Lineage, the company that runs the frozen food warehouse in Boyle Heights that caught fire last month, announced its will be providing additional services to residents impacted by the fire.
In a press release, officials said they will “provide short-term hotel and rental assistance to residents who choose to temporarily relocate during the cleanup and remediation process.” In addition, company officials say they will be delivering air purifiers, giving out prepaid cards, offering grocery vouchers, and “supporting residents’ utility bills through LADWP.”
This comes a few weeks after the company announced it was giving $2 million to help residents.
Their announcement comes ahead of a town hall in Boyle Heights to discuss ongoing recovery efforts.
The warehouse fire started on June 17 at the Lineage cold storage facility on South Los Palos St. and reignited once again on June 19. A knockdown was declared on June 24; however, fire officials say the fire is still smoldering deep inside the building.
The exact cause of the fire is still unknown; however, officials at Lineage said they believe it started on the roof while subcontractors were servicing the solar array.
