PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He has one of the best comeback stories in the NHL this year and he will have to do it again. Forward Frederick Gaudreau is week-to-week with a lower body injury.
The former Nashville Predator came to Pittsburgh this year after spending last season in the AHL and has been a staple since entering the lineup on March 18 due to injury. Gaudreau has a goal and three assists and his role grew from just 14 shifts his first game to playing consistently more than 20 shifts a game, including a high of 26.
Forward Kasperi Kapanen skated for the first time on Tuesday morning, head coach Mike Sullivan called it encouraging. Pens GM Ron Hextall said he could return in 10-14 days. Kapanen placed on injured reserve after being hit by a clearing attempt from a Buffalo defenseman on March 24. Kapanen has 7 goals and 14 assists and a stretch before the injury of 11 points in his last 13 games.-
Evgeni Malkin skated again Tuesday morning after being placed on long-term injured reserve on March 16, meaning he's cleared to return when ready. Hextall said Malkin is expected to return before the post-season begins.

Pens held off-ice workouts on Tuesday and will practice for the first time with new forward Jeff Carter on Wednesday. Pens host the Flyers Thursday night.
