Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was selected by his teammates as the team's MVP and awarded the Players' Player Award for the 2020-21 season.
This is Crosby's ninth time winning team MVP, second most in team history behind only Mario Lemieux who won it 12 times.
The Players' Player Award is voted on by the team and given to the player who excels in leadership on and off the ice; This is Crosby's third time winning the award.
At the age of 33, in his 16th season, Crosby leads the team in points with 60 through 54 games.
Set to lead the team in point for the 11th time in his career, he will tie Lemieux for most times leading the Penguins in points.
The 2020-21 season was full of success for Crosby in more than just a team MVP award; He became the first Penguin to play in 1,000 career games, and reached 1,300 points.
Crosby also achieved an average of over a point per game for the 16th consecutive season, behind only Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe for most in NHL history.
Only Crosby and Gretzky are the only two players to ever start their careers with 16 straigh seasons over a point per game.
