A large number of Cincinnati Bengals fans gathered on Monday to welcome back their team from the Super Bowl even though they lost.
Fan Morning Show host Colin Dunlap called it “Loser mentality” and says he doesn’t get why other fan bases, especially a Steelers fan would feel bad for the Bengals.
“Sports for me was a lot better when you liked the Steelers and you hated the Bengals, you liked the Steelers, you hated the Browns, you liked the Steelers, you hated the Ravens,” said Dunlap. “We’re so fricking soft anymore.”
The Bengals had not won a playoff game in 30 years and their last Super Bowl appearance was during the 1988 season, so 2021 was the first time Cincinnati fans had anything to cheer for in a long time.
But Dunlap doesn’t care, even with the standard higher in Pittsburgh with the Steelers, he says he’d feel the same if it was the Pirates losing the World Series.
“I would be ashamed if the Pirates lost in the World Series and I went to a parade for a second place team,” said Dunlap.
But co-host Chris Mack says he wouldn’t be ashamed if the Pirates fell short in the World Series after not being in one since 1979.
"I liked it better when people absolutely hated each other as sports fans," said Dunlap
