PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Tristan Jarry made 22 saves in a win over the Rangers last night, now Casey DeSmith will start Friday night at New Jersey at 7p.
Jarry was coming off a four goal first period on Tuesday, DeSmith relieved him and gave up four of his own. DeSmith gave up 6 against Boston on Saturday, but before had allowed three goals in his last four starts.
No injury returns
It's becoming a curious case of Teddy Blueger. The Pens forward has been practicing with full contact for over a week, yet can't get back in the lineup. He is again out for tonight.
No updates on defenseman Mark Friedman or forwards Evgeni Malkin and Kasperi Kapanen. Sullivan said Malkin did begin skating earlier this week.
Problem with the Devil
While New Jersey has only 14 wins and 34 points this year, a pair of those victories came against the Pens in just three meetings. Goalie Scott Wedgewood got his last win against Pittsburgh in mid-March. Mackenzie Blackwood got the other win, 2-1 making 35 saves on March 21.
Pavel Zacha is the only double-figure goal scorer, the center also leads New Jersey in points with 24.
