Jarry collects second straight shutout in Toronto

The starting goalie pulls within half of a game of franchise shutout streak record

Tristan Jarry

PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) It took a few games with a mostly healthy lineup, but it looks like the Pittsburgh Penguins have found their footing.

The Penguins', and goalie Tristan Jarry's, second shutout win in as many games shows to be a hot start to their Canadian road trip.

A convincing 6-0 win against the not-so-good Montreal Canadiens on Thursday was followed on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over the not-so-bad Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jarry left the Washington Capitals game last Sunday with a sour taste in his mouth; He gave up six goals to the rivals that night.

He followed that up with a stronger game against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, but still lost.

Thursday and Friday was all Jarry, however, as he didn't give up a single goal and stopped 50 shots between the past two games.

It wasn't too long ago Jarry set the Penguins franchise record for longest shutout streak with 177:15 without giving up a goal.

Jarry hasn't given up a goal since just before the midway point of the match against Buffalo, currently sitting at 151:06, just over 26-minutes shy of the franchise's (his own) record.

Just as important as a strong goalie in net, the Penguins have found their scoring touch again.

Jake Guentzel has scored in four straight games and has claimed the goals lead for the team with seven.

The Penguins will not be re-entering the States, yet, as they have one more matchup up north.

The Penguins looked to continue their winning ways on Monday in Winnipeg against the Jets.

The Jets, while sitting first in the Central Division, are coming going into Monday in the midst of a two-game losing streak.
