PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He was recognized earlier in the season as one of the NHL's stars of the week, Pens captain Sidney Crosby on the list again after six points in last week's games, all wins.
Of those six points, five were goals as the Pens went 4-0 including road wins at the Rangers (3 points), Devils (2 goals) and Capitals. He also scored in the home win against Tampa Bay. Crosby reached 40 goals on the season for the third time in his career and is just the seventh player in NHL history to score 40 goals after turning 36. He also joined Wayne Gretzky as the only players in league history to average over a point-per-game in 19 consecutive seasons.
Crosby was one of the NHL stars of the week three times last season and has 14 more goals and 23 more points than any player on the roster this year.
The captain is looking to lead this team to doing something as a group that has never been done. No team has overcome a nine-point deficit in its final 11 games to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
