
PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Having traded away veteran goalie Alex Nedeljkovic, the Pens traded for a back-up goalie for the upcoming season. GM Kyle Dubas sent forward Chase Stillman and a 2027 fourth-round pick to Vancouver for Arturs Silovs on Sunday.
The 24-year-old will make $850,000 this season after being named the most valuable player of the Calder Cup Championship leading the Abbotsford Canucks to the title. Silovs finished with five shutouts during the playoffs, one shy of the AHL all-time record in one season. Overall in the postseason, 16-7, 2.01 goals-against average and .931 save percentage. He was 14-5-2 with a .908 save percentage and 2.41 goals-against average (a career best) in the regular season.
The 6’4”, 203-pounder played 19 games over three seasons with Vancouver with a 3.13 goals-against average and .880 save percentage. The lefty catch was the most valuable player of the 2023 IIHF World Championships as Latvia won a first-ever bronze medal at the tournament.
The 6’1”, 185-pound Stillman, 22-years-old, played 19 games as a winger in AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2024-25 with a goal and two assists with 28 penalty minutes.
