PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He's been the Pirates most consistent hitter recently along with being a legend, Andrew McCutchen put on the injured list on Saturday.

You could see it as he tried to run the bases over the last few days, McCutchen is dealing with left knee inflammation and is on the 10-day IL. When he returns, McCutchen will still have a 10-game hitting streak as he is hitting .367 with a .459 on-base percentage with three home runs and 10 RBI in August.

The Pirates could have called up a number of players who would have been worthy including a few who came over in trade, but decided on utility infielder Alika Williams, who has hit .314 with seven doubles and nine RBI in AAA since the beginning of July.

Other options
·     Nick Yorke-INF
o  Since coming over in a trade with Boston, Yorke is hitting .385 with a .439 on-base percentage at AAA with six doubles and eight RBI

·     Billy Cook-INF/OF
o  Since coming over in a trade with Baltimore, the flexible Cook is hitting .359 with a .435 on-base with five doubles and two home runs

·     Henry Davis-C/DH
o  Overall at AAA, .313 average. ,408 on-base, .981 OPS with 14 doubles and 12 home runs

Davis is already on the 40-man roster, Yorke and Cook are not and would require a roster move to promote.
