The Pirates have signed a couple of international prospects in the top 20 on the first day of the international signing period.
MLB.com is reporting the Pirates have signed #7 prospect, outfielder Jeancer Custodio and #17 prospect short stop Wilton Guerrero Jr.
Both from the Dominican Republic, Custodio signed for $900,000 and Guerrero Jr for over $1.9 million.
The 17-year-old Custodio is highly-touted by scouts “for his exceptionally gifted hit tool and all-around makeup and maturity,” said MLB Pipeline.
16-year-old Guerrero Jr. is the son of eight-year MLB vet Wilton Guerrero Sr.
Scouts say Jr. has “a lean, projectable body and a gritty playing style with top-of-the-scale in-game aptitude.”
He is also the nephew of Vladimir Guerrero Sr. and one of the youngest players in the 2026 international class.
