PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – After adding a wide receiver the Steelers weren’t done before the 4p NFL trade deadline on Tuesday. GM Omar Khan added depth to their outside linebacker position.

10-year NFL veteran Preston Smith joins the Steelers defense for a 2025 seventh-round pick. With injuries recently to outside linebacker Alex Highsmith and Nick Herbig still working back through injury, this gives the team more depth. And more veteran depth as the Steelers were using players with little to any NFL experience.

Smith started all nine games for Green Bay this season with 2.5 sacks, two tackles for loss as part of 19 total tackles and four quarterback hits. The 30-year-old was a second-round pick by Washington back in 2015 and had his best season in 2019, his first with the Packers finishing with 12 sacks and 11 tackles for loss. In 2022, the 6’5”, 265-pound Smith had 8.5 sacks, nine tackles for loss and a career-high 59 tackles. Last year, eight sacks, four tackles for loss, 21 quarterback hits and 48 tackles.
