Pickett's improved play could mean more of Canada in 2023

Former Steelers QB Charlie Batch says it's possible if...

Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett continues to grow each week he takes the field.

Coaches and football experts say he's looking more comfortable with every start.

While he only has two passing touchdowns over the past four games, he has thrown zero interceptions.

Former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch tells The PM Team if that trend continues over the next five week, we may see Matt Canada back in 2023.

That is something that seemed impossible just a couple weeks ago.

Canada's play calling has been called out by fans and his playbook has been called out by players, saying they can only run the plays that are called.

Other teams have pointed out how they knew what plays were coming because there isn't a lot of options for Pickett and Co.

"I'm saying this right now, if he goes the next five games and doesn't turn the football over, it makes the strong case for offensive coordinator Matt Canada to be here in 2023, I know that's not what everyone wants to hear," said Batch.

Batch adds "you don't want to start over with a new offensive coordinator."

While he didn't bury Canada, Batch has been critical of the OC in the past so this isn't an opinion he's been holding on to all year.

Pickett spoke about Canada on Wednesday, "It's a collective effort, and it's definitely cool to have an OC that's open to that and not just kind of closed minded. So, it's a pretty good relationship that he has with all of us."
