Sound like Russell Wilson could start but, QB isn't the issue
After five games, the Steelers offense continues to look weak.
Even with replacing offensive coordinator Matt Canada with Arthur Smith and quarterback Kenny Pickett with Justin Fields.
Through five games, the Steelers have scored eight total touchdowns, Najee Harris leads the team with 270 rushing yards, Justin Fields is second with 172.
Wide receiver leads with 310 Receiving yards. He's followed by Pat Freiermuth with 178 yards.
Pittsburgh can't get a running back going and it doesn't help that Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson are both currently out.
After Pickens (who is having his own issues), the Steelers don't have a genuine #2 WR.
On ESPN's First Take Monday, Stephen A. Smith said the Steelers need to do something, anything.
"Go back and get Diontae Johnson back, who you left get away," said Smith. "Do something!"
The Steelers need another wide receiver, that much is clear and they need to get their running backs back.
Fields hasn't been great but he has been good and probably off to his best start in the NFL up to this point.
Former Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell commented on First Take's video and that the team only have one "LEGIT playmaker" and that's Pickens.
"When I say "playmaker", I mean a player to literally will make a huge play on their own .. steelers don't have enough of that right now, period," said Bell.
During last night's Sunday Night Football broadcast, sideline reporter Melissa Stark said that Russell Wilson told her "he should be ready to go next week" and that's he's "very close."
That will make for an interesting news conference with Mike Tomlin on Tuesday.
It's something that Tomlin has said nearly every week for a month, that a decision will be made when it's time.
After two straight losses, it will be easier for Tomlin to make the switch from Fields to Wilson.
It also gives us in the sports media something else to focus on.
There is only one problem, the quarterback isn't the issue.
