Just a day after it was announced the Pittsburgh Steelers would be releasing Trey Edmunds, the team made it official.
It was announced just prior to the open of camp at St. Vincent College that the Steelers signed running back Jeremy McNichols to a one-year contract.
Edmunds was released to fit McNichols on the 90-man roster.
McNichols spent the previous two seasons with the Tennessee Titans playing behind Derrick Henry.
In 2021, McNichols appeared in 14 games and was handed the ball 41 times for 156 yards.
The addition of McNichols adds a little heat to the battle for second string running back behind Najee Harris.
McNichols will battle Benny Snell for the spot.
