PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) – With the Sweet Sixteen set to tip off this Saturday, the Sporting News’ Mike DeCourcy joined Cook & Joe to discuss the NCAA Tournament.
As upsets in the West region have certainly made the tournament more interesting and exciting, DeCourcy believes they have actually muddied the path for the Gonzaga Bulldogs ever so slightly.
The Zags already defeated both Kansas and Iowa this season, which could have caused them to rest on their past victories. Now that both are out, the No. 1-overall seed will be forced to potentially face new challenges in either Oregon or USC if they can get through Creighton.
While new challenges, DeCourcy believes they will keep Gonzaga both locked in and sharp.
DeCourcy sees Baylor as Gonzaga's true biggest threat to win the tournament, but the teams would have to meet in the nationals championship game on Monday, April 5.
DeCourcy also discussed Loyal-Chicago phenom Cameron Krutwig, sleepers to win it all and what makes Gonzaga's Corey Kispert so good.
