TJ McConnell goes in Arizona Ring of Honor

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Once an underrecruited player from Chartiers Valley High School, TJ McConnell went into the University of Arizona Ring of Honor on Wednesday night in Tucson.

After sitting out a season following his transfer from Duquesne, McConnell was a two-time Pac 12 All Defensive Team and First Team All Pac-12 as a senior having played on back-to-back Elite Eight teams with the Wildcats averaging 9.4 points, 5.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.9 steals from 2013-15. He has the second most assists in a single season in Arizona basketball history.

After being introduced on the court Wednesday night he tapped his heart several times in appreciation. His wife, Valerie, father, Tim, mom, Shelley and sister, Megan, currently a star on the Duquesne women’s basketball team, all attended. The university raised a banner to the rafters and gave him a game ball.

McConnell joins Arizona basketball legends including Steve Kerr, Damon Stoudamire, Sean Elliott, Mike Bibby, Miles Simon, Gilbert Arenas, Andre Iguodala to be in the Ring of Honor.

The entire Indiana Pacers team attended before they start a West Coast road trip.
