The Pacific Airshow starts in Huntington Beach on Friday, but the U.S. Thunderbirds won’t be performing due to the government shutdown.
Mayor Pat Burns told KNX News’ Jon Baird he’s not happy with the situation.
“I'll tell you, if it wasn't political, I wouldn't have a problem with the shutdown,” he said. “But it's political. It's not even governing. It is just pure, almost malicious governing.”
Kevin Elliott, director of the Pacific Airshow, said that while it is disappointing that the U.S. Thunderbirds won’t be in the show, there’s still a jam-packed lineup.

“ We still have, you know, 4.5, 5 hours worth of performers, and we're going to curate an entire full day of amazing performances,” He said. “Like I said, over 20 performers. Most air shows maybe have 3 or 4. We have 20 “
The show on Friday kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
