This week's honoree is Brooke Gemmell of Southington, nominated by her mom, Laurie Seymour of Bristol. Who better to describe her badass daughter than Laurie? "At just under 5 feet tall, my dynamo of a daughter Brooke packs some mighty power in that tiny little body. She's 30 years old, looks like she's 15, and although it's invisible to the naked eye, she also has the health history of a senior citizen. Through chronic kidney stones and hypertension, a serious blood clot, and a life-threatening case of pre-eclampsia, Brooke rises every time she is knocked down...which is way too often in my book. She's married to a 6'2" former power-lifter champion and is mother to their very active 3-year-old son. She has a full-time career at the University of Connecticut, using her Master's Degree In Digital Arts at Greenhouse Studios on the UCONN campus in Storrs. If that's not enough for your average mom, she's also a nationally recognized equestrian who continues to compete nationwide. Brooke is fierce in advocating for animal and human rights, and frankly, anything she believes causes harm to life and the earth. She can command a crowd — as well as connect to an individual soul — all in a typical day." Wow — we couldn't have said any of that better ourselves and we certainly agree with mom, Brooke is indeed a badass!
