Internal poll shows Greitens expanding lead amid domestic abuse allegations

Internal polling shared with the Washington Examiner by the Senate campaign for Eric Greitens, shows the former Missouri Governor with a now sizeable lead in the GOP race for the soon-to-be vacant Senate seat of Roy Blunt. The lead appears to have developed despite domestic violence allegations made by Greitens second ex-wife, Sheena Greitens.

Former Missouri state Senator John Lamping tells Marc Cox, "it is an internal poll, so you definitely take it with a slight grain of salt."

"The real interesting number on that poll is where it has Eric Schmitt at 14-percent, which is really low," says Lamping.

He tells Marc Cox that other campaigns are not surprised by the Greitens lead, "their polling is showing the same thing, that he really hasn't gone down all that much. What's happening outside the St. Louis area is that Schmitt is being hit really hard with ads that show his relationship with China."

There are 21 candidates in Missouri on the Republican side of the ticket running in the Senate primary, 11 Democrats and three Independents.
