I was going to do my top ten adult league baseball fields in honor of my cohost Ben listing all of his favorite North County golf courses, but I decided that MAY be a touch annoying. But seriously though..if you like good, competitive baseball, I can't recommend our league enough. Go sign up at northcountymsbl.com.
Right as I finished the first paragraph of this blog, which is totally voluntary and not in any way forced upon me by my boss Adam, the Padres just dropped game one to the Mets, 5-2. While the future still looks extremely bright, Tuesday's game was mildly concerning.
The Padres ran what was, in my opinion, the best lineup of the year out there. A lineup that's pretty representative of the future of this organization. You had your young ace-in-training, Chris Paddack on the bump. Urias manning second base, Mejia behind the dish, and what is still, without question, the most dynamic left side of the infield in all of baseball in Machado and Tatis.
And they lost. Which, in the grand scheme of things, isn't much to worry about. But to lose to a thumber like Jason Vargas....it's tough to sit through those games. Watching guys flail at change-ups out of the zone all night. It's um....frustrating to say the least. As excited as we all are about the future of this squad, nights like this and the way they've played in the second half so far, FEELS like it's regressing. Losing to the Marlins. Losing to the Mets. That's not what we expected from this squad at all this year.
As much as I'm telling you to be patient, I feel like I needed to write this to myself to remind myself to be patient. If we all keep repeating "The Future is Bright The Future is Bright The Future is Bright" then maybe..just maybe...it will be.
