The San Diego Padres were split up on Tuesday afternoon for their split-squad games against the Seattle Mariners and the Chicago White Sox.
In Peoria the Padres hosted their Spring Training facility partners in the Seattle Mariners, and featured the likes of Ian Kinsler, Eric Hosmer Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., and Francisco Mejia to name a few of the top names in the Padres organization. On the hill for the Padres against the Mariners was former first round draft pick Cal Quantrill. Quantrill, who is being considered as a potential rotation arm, started off strong as he pitched two innings of scoreless, two-hit ball to get the game started. In his third and final inning he gave up a leadoff homerun to Mariners' center fielder, Jake Fraley, who would end up finishing his day 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs. Fraley's home run was the only run Quantrrill surrendered in his three innings of work to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings.
