The Padres may have lost 5-2 to the Braves on Friday night, but the team has a lot to be excited about. Heralded pitching prospect MacKenzie Gore made his MLB debut, and looked the part, allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits over 5.1 innings pitched. Top prospect C.J. Abrams started in right field, and scored a run after reaching base via hit by pitch and stealing second. This game was a pitching duel between two pitchers selected within 2 spots of each other in the 2017 draft, and was tied at 2 apiece in the 8th inning, when the Braves were able to push across 3 runs. Atlanta's bullpen held on for the win. Game 3 between the Braves and Padres is Saturday afternoon.
