The Padres got back in the win column Monday night, beating the Marlins 6-2 to gain a little ground in the wild card race. Michael Wacha pitched well, allowing just a solo home run to Josh Bell in the 6th inning while striking out 7 in 5.1 innings. Manny Machado put the Padres up 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st inning with a sac fly that drove in Ha-Seong Kim. Kim broke the game wide open in the bottom of the 2nd with his first career grand slam. Machado would add his 24th home run of the season in the 5th inning. The Padres will have a chance to gain more ground on the Marlins when they send Blake Hill to the mound on Tuesday.
