The Padres lost Friday's game against the Red Sox 10-2, as Nick Pivetta was unable to notch a victory against his former team. The game was scoreless entering the 4th inning, when Pivetta loaded the bases with no outs. Masataka Yoshida drove in the game's first run on a deep sac-fly. With runners on the corners, Pivetta made an errant pickoff attempt to first, allowing another run to score from third base. Wilyer Abreu followed with a 2-run homer to put the Red Sox up 4-0. The Padres never really got within striking distance, in this one. They scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th, though they were already trailing 8-0 at the time. Fernando Tatis Jr. struck out with the bases loaded with a chance to get the Padres back in the game. He had a tough night at the dish, going 0-5 with 3 strikeouts, as his offensive malaise continued. Michael King will look to right the ship for the Padres in his return from a nerve impingement on Saturday.
