The Padres lost to the Reds 2-1 in 10 innings on Tuesday night, as Nick Martinez was unable to hold a 1-run lead in the 8th inning. The Padres got on the board in the 3rd inning on Juan Soto's RBI-double. That 1-0 lead held until the 8th inning, when Jake Fraley tied the game on a 2-out RBI-single. Josh Hader pitched a scoreless 9th inning to send the game into extra innings, where the Reds were able to drive in their automatic baserunner on a single from Jonathan India. Trent Grisham drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 10th, giving the Friars two baserunners and no outs due to the automatic baserunner, with the top of their lineup on the way. Fernando Tatis struck out swinging, followed by a lineout to left field by Manny Machado, and Juan Soto struck out looking to end the game. The Padres will try to salvage a series win on Wednesday with Seth Lugo on the mound.
