The Padres got back in the win column on Monday night thanks to a gem from Blake Snell and a big night at the dish from Garrett Cooper. The southpaw tossed 7 shutout innings and struck out 9 hitters, lowering his ERA to 2.60, which is the lowest in all of baseball. The key sequence for Blake Snell came in the 4th inning, when he loaded the bases with just one out in a scoreless game. Snell struck out Andrew Knizner and Jordan Walker back-to-back to get out of the jam without allowing a run. Cooper went 3-5 at the plate and drove in 3 runs. Fernando Tatis Jr. reached base 3 times and scored each time, while Matt Carpenter reached base 3 times and drove in a run on a night where he received a nice ovation from the Cardinals fans he played in front of for the first 11 seasons of his career. The Padres totaled 12 hits, but still struggled with runners in scoring position, going 3-12 and leaving 13 runners on base. Josh Hader earned his 28th save of the season. Seth Lugo will start for the Friars on Tuesday.
