SDFC sporting director Tyler Heaps met with reporters on Friday, and announced that Chucky Lozano was not in the club's plans moving forward. Lozano was the club's first major signing and its designated player, and scored 9 goals with 10 assists in 27 appearances during the club's inaugural season. After head coach Mikey Varas subbed Lozano out at halftime against Houston in the team's penultimate regular season match, Lozano got into a verbal altercation in the locker room, and consequently did not travel with the team for the regular season finale against Portland or suit up in the first playoff match against the Timbers. Lozano was used as a sub off the bench in the club's final two postseason matches. Heaps said that the club is working with Lozano and his representatives to find a solution moving forward.
