In May of 2,000, a Maulden woman was shot and permanently paralyzed. Now, almost 20 years later, the suspect has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.
On Thursday, 55-year-old Reynaldo Ramon Pimienta of South America pled guilty to assault and battery with intent to kill and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
Court evidence suggested Pimienta followed the woman home and shot her through her car door, hitting her left side and permanently paralyzing her.
He then fled the US for 20 years, and was eventually tracked down through the group efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies.
