The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man over the weekend on three charges of Domestic Violence involving three separate incidents that involved the same victim.
28 year old Austin Tyrell Cousins of Jaymory Way was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 7:02pm Sunday.
Cousins was served with three arrest warrants on two counts each of Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature and one count of Domestic Violence – 2nd Degree.
Early yesterday morning, a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Singing Pines Road after a 911 call was made.
The deputy who initially arrived on scene made contact with the victim and after additional deputy’s arrived on scene; both the victim and another female exited the residence.
Deputies discovered a physical manifestation of injuries on the victim and the victim was examined by paramedics.
The victim did go to the hospital for treatment.
According to the arrest warrant, Cousins is charged with applying pressure to the throat or neck of the victim.
The suspect in the investigation, Cousins, was not located by deputies at the incident scene.
The victim told the responding deputy that Cousins was not supposed to be at the residence, however, the arrest warrant does list the victim as a household member.
A second and separate incident involving Cousins and the victim occurred on May 24th when a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Lonesome Pine Trail in regards to threats that Cousins had made via text messages to do bodily harm to the victim.
A warrant was obtained against Cousins for Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.
It was during the investigation into threats that Cousins made towards the victim May 24th that the victim informed the deputy of a third incident that occurred on May 19th in which Cousins assaulted the victim at the Jaymory Way address, according to the arrest warrant.
The assault occurred in the presence of two minor children that Cousins and the victim have in common An arrest warrant was obtained on Cousins charging him with Domestic Violence – 2nd Degree.
Deputies attempted to serve the arrest warrants obtained in May of this year against Cousins at his home address; however, contact was not made with Cousins.
The arrest warrants were also entered into the National Crimes Information Center database.
Also during the contact with the victim on May 24th, the deputy provided the victim with information concerning the Sheriff’s Office Victim’s Advocates as well as information concerning a trespass notice and a no contact order on Mr. Cousins.
Plus, the deputy asked the victim about the Sheriff’s Office helping to secure her placement in a domestic violence shelter.
At this time, Cousins remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center on a combined $60,000 surety bond.
