A family of bears joined beachgoers over the weekend to frolic in the surf at a beach in South Lake Tahoe, according to CBS Sacramento.
Video taken by a beachgoer showed a mother bear and two cubs running in and out of the water, virtually ignoring humans standing nearby.
CBS Sacramento reported that the beachgoer said the mother bear ransacked another family’s cooler for food before taking to the water.
In 2016, another bear and three cubs went swimming in the same location, CBS Sacramento said. The news station quoted an official with California Fish and Wildlife, who said bear encounters at the beaches will be more frequent during the summer months as temperatures rise and bears get hungry.
