A homicide investigation is underway in Spartanburg where Police responded to gunfire at an apartment along Collins Avenue, around 4 AM Sunday.
When officers arrived they found a seven-month-old infant suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. Investigators believe the infant and mother were asleep when several unknown suspects fired multiple rounds into the home.
The infant was unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Zymir Demarco Smith.
