And just like that, students are back to sharpening their pencils... The first day of class for some students starts as early as Wednesday, July 22, 2026. That's when Greenwood School District 50 students return to class under the district's modified year-round calendar.
Anderson County students still have a little more time to enjoy summer break. Classes across the county's five school districts begin in early August, including Anderson School District 4, where Pendleton Elementary students head back on Thursday, August 4, 2026.
With the new school year just around the corner, the Pendleton Police Department is collecting new school supplies to support Pendleton Elementary families in need through its "Pack the Bulldog's Backpack" community outreach initiative.
PDonations are being accepted through July 28, 2026 at the Police Department on Greenville Street, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
