UPDATE (February 4, 2026) Bond denied for 19 year old charged in Spartanburg murder.... The shooting happened around 9pm Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at a home on Farm Creek Road near Inman. Initial information provided to deputies indicated that 21 year old Skyy E. Logan was shot accidentally. However, evidence at the scene did not support that claim.
A shooting in Spartanburg County Tuesday night that had been initially reported as an accident, is now being investigated as a homicide.
19 year old Jayvion Nyrek Rice was taken to the Spartanburg County Detention Facility charged with Murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Rice appeared before a judge late Wednesday, February 4, 2026, and was denied bond. If convicted of murder, Rice faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. The weapons charge carries a possible sentence of up to five years, unless he is sentenced to life without parole.

According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, Rice and Logan were in a relationship and were involved in a domestic dispute at the time of the shooting.
Deputies responded to a home on Farm Creek Rd near Inman just after 9PM. 21-year-old Skyy Ernestasjah Logan was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where she later died.
Initial information provided to deputies indicated that the victim was shot accidentally, by 19-year-old Jayvion Nyrek Rice. However, evidence at the scene did not support that claim.
Rice has been charged with murder and a weapons violation. He is currently being held in Spartanburg County pending a bond hearing. His arrest marks the latest in a rash of shootings involving teenagers across the Upstate.
