A military veteran who lost his life in combat is set to be laid to rest in Western North Carolina, decades later.
Air Force Captain and Waynesville native Fred Hall died while serving in the Vietnam War. He was missing for decades until his remains were found and identified, last year.
Over the weekend, Captain Hall's remains were flown in GSP airport, as veterans gathered to welcome the fallen soldier home. Veteran groups provided a motorcycle escort as Hall was taken back to his hometown.
A memorial service to honor Captain Hall is set to be held Tuesday in Waynesville.
