Greenville County Schools names 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year

Greenville County’s 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year has officially been named.

At a special event Thursday morning, Morgan Smith, who teaches 5th grade at Robert E. Cashion Elementary School, was named this year’s Teacher of the Year.

“This teacher also prepares students for life beyond school by incorporating the graduation plus initiative to their instruction,” said Greenville County Schools Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster. “The classroom regularly hosts guest speakers from the community, exposing students to a range of careers and educational pathways. From adapting classroom language and materials to using technology to bridge communication gaps for English learners, this educator goes above and beyond the create a space where every student can trive.”

Smith won out of a pool of 10 finalists that were selected from roughly 6,000 submissions from various schools around the Greenville area.

Runners up for the award included Riverside High School English teacher Meagan Wagner, Hollis Academy 4th grade teacher Candance Brownlee-Collins and Monarch Elementary Schools 4k teacher Tieraney Gezelle Rice.
