The City of Greenville is growing, but by acreage and just population. The City Council in Monday night's meeting approved the annexation of a 135 acre section of Woodruff Road near Sam's Club, which includes numerous other businesses.
The justification of the move is to allow council to address Woodruff Road's infamous traffic issues, which are a constant problem. Leaders also say that area will be better served with faster response times from the city's emergency services.
Those improvements are among those to be funded by the proposed one-percent sales tax that will be on November’s ballot, if voters approve.
