An illegal immigrant charged with sexual assaulting a minor in Oconee County is now one step closer to being returned to his home country.
As we previously reported, Wilson Nahun Figuero-Argueta was arrested and charged with 2nd degree Criminal Sexual Conduct With A Minor, last month. The charge stems from an incident in 2022, in which a 13 year old girl was sexually assaulted in the West Union area.
Figuero-Argueta who is a Hondurian national has since been transferred to ICE custody, awaiting deportation. If he were to re-enter the U.S. he would face trial for the child sex crime charge.
Sources close to the situation, tell me that a minor was already charged for his role in the incident. Sources also tell me that another Hondurian national was involved in the original incident, but his whereabouts are currently unknown.
The Sheriff's Office has declined to confirm nor deny that information. They cited that they can't do so, due to a minor being the victim in the case. They also cited that Figuero-Argueta could face future prosecution, so any information they released regarding my questions could interfere with legal proceedings.
