A man who fled to New York City after killing his ex-girlfriend in the Upstate will spend half a century behind bars. 39 year old, Juan Tobon has been found guilty of murder and a weapons violation.

Court records show that the victim Caroline Hall was found dead in her Spartanburg County home in February of 2024. Hall had been shot in the head at point blank range.

Evidence also pointed out that Tobon and Hall had broken up and he was supposed to be moving out. Hall's car was found in a parking lot in Simpsonville. Surveillance video showed Tobon driving Hall's car and parking it there.

Tobon was arrested a few days later in New York City. Ballistic evidence also pointed towards Tobon. The jury only deliberated for two hours before returning a guilty verdict.

Tobon has been sentenced to 50 years in the state prison system.
