Governor McMaster's State-of-the-State speech declares a state of war with organized labor in South Carolina. "We will fight all the way to the gates of hell" the Governor said in Wednesday night's address from the Statehouse, "...and we will win this fight."

McMaster's clarion call warns that aggressive unionization threatens South Carolina's phenomenal economic progress . The Labor Department reports union membership did increase by forty percent in the State last year.

McMaster was particularly reacting to a U-S Supreme Court decision to hear the long-running feud between the State Ports Authority and the Longshoremen's Union which wants sole control over operations of the giant loading cranes at the container ports of Charleston.

The Democrat response delivered by State Representative Roger Kirby keyed in on South Carolina's ratings on healthcare, affordable childcare and expanded Medicaid coverage. He blames the lack of progress on one-party rule and, in his words, "infighting over purely political issues."
