It was mayhem in the mountains as a shooting Wednesday in Western North Carolina, left one person dead and another injured. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting on Silvers Lake Road, around 4PM.
Upon arrival, deputies found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was taken to a hospital to be treated. There's been no update yet on their condition.
The Sheriff's Office says a suspect is in custody, however they have not yet released the identity of the suspect. There's also been no details released on what led to the shooting, as of the time of this report.
