The Spartanburg County Coroner says a man first thought to have died in a fiery car wreck over the weekend is a homicide victim instead. The body of 37 year old Lamar Douglas Jones was discovered Saturday night in a burned-out car at the end of Carolina Country Club Road. It had been reported to emergency dispatchers as a vehicle accident.
However, Coroner Rusty Clevenger says his preliminary investigation suggested Jones suffered injuries inconsistent with a car crash. It's now a homicide case. Jones had an arrest record in Spartanburg County on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle and domestic violence.
