Details have been released after the former Mayor of an Upstate town was arrested on a sex crime charge. As we previously reported, 71 year old Johnnie Waller is charged with 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct.
Waller is a pastor and the former longtime mayor of Calhoun Falls. The Greenwood Police Department says that the charge came after an incident at Self Regional Hospital. Waller was known to visit patients in a pastoral role and was seen in the room of a vulnerable adult patient under DSS care.
Police say that surveillance video, statements from hospital staff and conducted interviews as part of the investigation. Waller was then taken into custody and has also been trespassed by Self Regional.
No further details have been released at this time, as the case remains under investigation by the Greenwood Police Department.
