One person is dead after being hit by a train in Union County, this morning. The Union County Sheriff's Office responded to the Monarch Community around 10:15 after a 9-1-1 caller reported that a pedestrian had been hit by a Norfolk Southern train.
Upon arrival, deputies found a man lying on the tracks, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials from Union County Coroner's Office, Norfolk Southern Railway and the Sheriff's Office are all investigating the incident.
The deceased has not yet been identified and no further details have been released, as of this time.
