Pedestrian killed after being hit by train in the Upstate

One person is dead after a pedestrian was hit by a train in the Upstate, Monday morning. The Pickens County Coroner's Office responded to the area of Cumberland and Wilbur Streets in Easley, around 9AM.

Amtrak officials say the train was headed from New Orleans to New York and was carrying over 150 passengers, when the collision occurred. The Coroner's Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased.

Amtrak released a statement saying none of the passengers or crew onboard were injured.
