The Pickens County woman who had been released after questioning at the scene of a homicide is now under arrest for murder. 27-year-old Nicole Michelle Heape told Sheriff's Deputies she had shot 31-year-old Drayton Kennedy in self defense.
The shooting happened during a fight after midnight Monday, at the home the couple shared on Moorefield Memorial Highway in Liberty. She had been released after questioning.
However, investigators say their interviews with people who knew both of them, plus further evidence from the scene led to her arrest Tuesday. She is charged with murder and possession of a weapon in a violent crime.
