The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office is observing the one year anniversary of the loss of one of their deputies in the line of duty. Deputy Austin Aldridge was shot and killed by a suspect last June.
Deputy Aldridge's name was added the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC last month. An inscription on that memorial reads: "It's not how these officers died that made them heroes; it's how they lived."
A media release from the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office stated "Truer words could not be spoken about Austin on this day of remembrance and reflection."
