A bill has been introduced in the South Carolina Statehouse that would dissolve the South Carolina High School League and create a new association. The new governing body would be led by state governance and would have a committee appointed to oversee the association. As it is now the SCHSL governs high school sports in the state. They are designated a private, non-profit or a 501C3. The SCHSL governs without state governance and oversight. Current SCHSL Commissioner Jerome Singleton makes more than $200,000 annually according to Non-Profit Explorer.
