Three people are dead and another is injured after a crash near an Upstate high school. The crash happened just after 3:30 PM Friday near Chesnee High.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the driver ran off the left side of the road, hitting a ditch and a group of trees. The driver was injured in the crash and was taken to a local hospital.
Three passengers in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. A vigil was held Saturday night at Chesnee High School. Reports surfaced over the weekend that the three killed were students at the school.
Officials at Chesnee High cancelled their football game Friday night against Landrum. The game has been rescheduled to Monday night.
The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office has not released the identities of the victims, as of the time of this report.
