A single engine Cessna crash landed in the Upstate Wednesday afternoon. Officials with the Greenville Downtown Airport say, the plane was originally supposed to land there. However, it had a fuel emergency and landed 3 miles short of its destination.

After declaring the fuel emergency, the pilot was advised to land at GSP as it was the closest airport, but the pilot alerted them that the plane was too low on fuel to make it and the plane crash landed in a field off Hartness Drive. The plane reportedly took off from Summerville Airport.

The Boiling Springs Fire Department has responded to the scene of the crash. A flight instructor and student pilot on board were injured, but expected to recover from their injuries.
