An iconic Upstate bar and music venue will be closing it's doors due to Insurance premiums skyrocketing. The Blindhorse Saloon took to social media Tuesday night to announce it's closure. The venue says the decision comes due to the Liquor Liability Insurance requirements. The Blind Horse has been a staple in Greenville for nearly 3 decades.
A bill that passed in 2017 requires a million dollar insurance policy to be able to serve liquor. The increase that came after that bill was followed by the Covid pandemic in 2020 which damaged and even crippled bars and music venues.
The fallout of the insurance premium increases has caused several such establishments to close around the state. The Blindhorse is the largest lynchpin to fall in the Greenville area in what many around the industry are calling a crisis. The Blindshorse says the closure is effective immediately.
